Furniture Refinishing

We strip the varnish or paint off with a liquid chemical. The process is called over-flow stripping. |
|

|
Stripping |
A nylon bristled brush that secretes the chemical is used to scrub the entire piece down, the extra chemical |

is recycled and reused. Once the piece is clean we wash it off with thinner to neutralize the chemical. |

The repairing of the piece is done after it has been stripped. This is done so that the adhesives used to repair |

the piece are not weakened by the stripper chemical. Next, we will assemble the piece and make |

sure all parts fit and operate smoothly (drawers, doors, shelves, etc.). |

Sanding is done according to the species of wood. We usually sand two to three times finishing up with |

a fine grit sandpaper (320). By sanding this way there will be no visible sanding or mill marks and the |

|
stain will go on with a nice even appearance. |
